Update: Thank you to our Community Day zipliners!

We love to give back to our local community, so with the help of 40 of our zip friends (old and new), we set out to have fun and managed to raise $2,000 for Special Olympics Invermere!

Thank you to one and all for a great day of awesome memories.

Event Information

After a successful inaugural event last year, Mineral Mountain Ziplines at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort is once again giving back to its community with its second annual Community Day event. On May 31, guests can enjoy 50% off all zipline rides, with all proceeds going to support the Invermere Special Olympics.

Ziplining for Special Abilities

“The Special Olympics is completely in line with what we at Mineral Mountain believe in, and that is making sports accessible for all people,” says MMZ general manager Jay Manton.

“While our course here at MMZ is not wheelchair accessible, we do accommodate people with varying abilities, including those with prosthetic limbs. We recently had someone out here that had experienced a stroke and had lost control of half their body, and they were able to enjoy our zipline.”

What’s So Special about the Special Olympics

Serving the Columbia Valley in the East Kootenay region of BC, the Special Olympics currently offers year-round sports training to local athletes of all ages with intellectual disabilities. Some of the sports offered include alpine skiing, cross country skiing, bowling, swimming, golf, and bocce.

Special Olympians have the opportunity to participate in provincial, national, and international Special Olympic Games.

One of the Most Fun Things to Do with the Family

On May 31, our East Kootenay zipline will be open to all ages (must weigh 50 pounds or more) and abilities.

“Last year, we saw more than 50 people come out for our inaugural Community Day, which benefitted the Columbia Valley Search and Rescue. This year we hope to benefit another important service to our community,” says Manton.

"We love when the community is engaged with us, and we hope to have some of our Special Olympians and community members try out our adrenaline zipline and go on an adventure tour they will never forget.”

Guided tours will be offered hourly on the hour, depending on availability. Those wishing to receive their 50% discount on May 31 are asked to book online and type in the promo code SpecialOlympics.
