Floating on the Columbia River is one of our favourite things to do in Fairmont Hot Springs, BC.

People like us. They like us a lot. But don’t take our word for it. If you look up ‘things to do in Fairmont Hot Springs, BC’ on TripAdvisor, you’ll see that Mineral Mountain Ziplines is the No. 1-rated activity in the area.

We’ve only been at this for a year, so we’re pretty ecstatic to have developed a loyal following in such a short span. In our minds, we’re just getting started and the best is yet to come. Our goal is to become one of the top tourist attractions in BC.

While you’re in the area for a zipline adventure, we thought we’d share some of our favorite things to do in Fairmont Hot Springs. We’re not from here originally, so hopefully our outsiders’ perspective will resonate with visitors coming to Columbia Valley.

The Fairmont Float

If you’ve never spent a lazy afternoon floating down the Columbia River on a tube, you’re in for a real treat. This self-guided experience is not to be missed if you’re visiting the area in summer.

Best of all, if you bring your own tube, it’s free. Otherwise, you can rent one at the local gas station.

Depending on the time of year and the current water levels, it’ll take anywhere from two to three hours to complete. The river typically flows at a sedate pace, so it’s safe for the whole family. Just make sure to bring life jackets for the young ones.

All-in-One Family Fun

Fairmont Hot Springs Resort has something for everyone, no matter the season. Whether you want to sit and soak in the resort’s natural spring pools, or you want to work on your golf swing, you can do it here.

Other popular activities you’ll find at the resort include:

  • Horseback riding
  • Kayaking
  • ATVing
  • Mountain biking

Natural Hot Springs

Just up the road in Whiteswan Provincial Park you’ll find the Lussier Hot Springs. They’re located about 45 minutes away from Fairmont Hot Springs, BC, but it’s worth the drive.

Unlike the privately owned hot springs in BC that are built up to look like swimming pools, these undeveloped hot springs are very basic, consisting of nothing more than rock pools with gravel bottoms. They do get busy in summer, so go early to avoid the masses.

Hoodoo Trail

If you’re looking for a unique hiking experience, the Fairmont Hoodoos Trail is a great choice. In addition to seeing the iconic sand formations for which it’s named, this trail offers hikers magnificent views of the Columbia Valley.

This trail has some steeper sections that some beginner hikers might find challenging. Along the way, you’ll find interpretive panels describing the local flora, fauna and geology.
