Fireworks are an annual Canada Day tradition at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort.

No matter where you spend it, Canada Day is an exciting spectacle in our country. While the 150th celebrations in 2017 were incredible to behold, we’re sure you’ll find plenty to do this year at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort

Best of all, Canada Day being a stat holiday means a day off—and who wouldn't love that? If you’ll be in the area on July 1, here are some great ways to celebrate.

Fireworks

Many cities across the country ring in the Canada Day celebrations with a breathtaking fireworks display, and Fairmont Hot Springs is no different. The resort hosts a display at dusk each year, around 10:30 p.m.

Fairmont Hot Springs Resort also hosts a range of other family-friendly Canada Day activities, including:

  • Live music
  • Puppetry shows
  • Kids’ games and crafts

Zipline Tours

While it is only entering is second season of operation, Mineral Mountain Ziplines is already rated as the No. 1 thing to do by TripAdvisor users who visit the area. Canada Day typically signifies the onset of the busy peak season for the company. It’s a great time of year to sign up for an adventure tour because:

  • Kids are out of school (treat them to a fun outing)
  • Weather is typically fantastic
  • Guides are in peak form
  • Full tour schedule means better choice of times

Round of Golf

Whether you’re an avid golfer, a complete novice or somewhere in between, Fairmont Hot Springs has a course for you.

For more advanced players, either the Mountainside or Riverside—both offering 18 holes of golfing bliss in the Columbia Valley—is a great option. If you’re in town for a few days, why not hit up both? For newer golfers, or those who don’t want to play a full 18, the Creekside Course is a fun, nine-hole course that features oversized holes (8 inches).

Also, if you’re travelling with kids, there’s the Fairmont Funtasia Fun Park, which features a mini-golf course set among a mature stand of fir trees. This makes for a relaxing outing, even on a hot summer’s day. Other attractions at Funtasia include:

  • Bumper cars
  • Animal Pet Park
  • Labyrinth
  • Garden Bistro

Go for a Float

There’s just something that’s so Canadian about floating down a river on a tube with friends, while enjoying the beautiful weather and an ice-cold beverage. In Fairmont Hot Springs, the river of choice is the Columbia. By July, the spring runoff has subsided, allowing the river to flow at a leisurely pace, making this experience safe for the whole family.

Didn’t bring a tube or air mattress? No worries: you can rent tubes at the local gas station.
